For the people of Langkawi, 'Kerabu Beronok' is no stranger, it is kind of special food you eat with your family during a casual lunch or dinner. It is also a special meal during gatherings or wedding feast. Maybe lot of us may not have heard about 'Beronok', a type of sea cucumber found only in the waters of Langkawi. 'Beronok' however not be available at all times because it is seasonal.

To get 'Beronok', you need to go down to the mud during low tide, there are only a few locations left to get 'Beronok'. This is due to the rapid development in Pulau Langkawi, many coastal areas that are the habitat for 'Beronok' has been reclaimed. Normally, finding beronok be done in groups and families relaxing activity during leisure. There is also a 'Beronok' seekers who do this activity as a livelihood. When searching Beronok, often seekers for 'Beronok' will get cockles. These sea creatures embedded in the mud about one to two feet, you need to use your hands to rummage out. 'Beronok' goodies are still young, the elderly are little bit tough and it can be eaten raw.
